Battery Maintenance
Batteries are the weak link in any UPS system because they age and are dependent on the operating environment. We undertake routine maintenance tasks which include checking the open-circuit battery and UPS float voltages, inspecting the physical condition of terminals and connections, and logging battery impedance to predict the end of the batteries' useful life.
We have our own directly employed engineers who carry out independent test and measurement of DC systems. Metartec supply and install most major brands of batteries and therefore are independent when it comes time to quote for a replacement set. Metartec offer condition monitoring on VRLA, Flooded cell and NiCad cells.

Metartec aim to install a configuration that meets the customer requirement and aids the maintenance during the life of the installation.
Battery Disposal
Replacement and disposal of batteries is strictly governed by regulations and must be carried out by licensed disposal companies following prescribed methods. We are experienced in ecologically acceptable removal and disposal of UPS systems and consumable parts, from batteries to complete power systems.
Metartec staff are trained in safe handling of hazardous materials associated with our type of work and very aware of the current regulations and their corporate social responsibility. Where possible the old equipment will be collected directly from site upon completion the contract and Metartec staff liaise with the registered removal contractor. Batteries are removed from site in approved containers.
Battery Installation
The battery configuration and lay out are critical for the safe performance of battery maintenance. Metartec have carried out battery installation of single sites of > 5000 blocks.
We always consider the after sales service engineers when recommending battery room layouts. We can supply the batteries, battery stands and provide the installation or alternatively just supply the experienced staff to carry out the battery installation.
Battery Training
Metartec can offer a 3 day course at the Yuasa factory that will give our customers the opportunity to learn more about the production and function of UPS batteries.
